Your Car’s New Year’s Resolution

December 30th, 2020 by

Phew! What a year 2020 has been! At the start of every year, we all make resolutions that quite frankly… we don’t always keep. We stick to the resolution for a few weeks, and then before we know it, we silently forget about it.

Now as we make our New Year’s resolutions, let’s not forget about our cars. Lucky for you, your car’s New Year’s resolution should be much easier to manage and keep. In the upcoming year, let’s make yourself a better car owner and keep your car in the best condition.

Always Keep Up With Maintenance

The most important vehicle maintenance drivers will need to keep up with are oil changes, tire care, brake care, and your car’s forgotten air filter.

It is important to regularly change your oil because that is what keeps your car’s engine properly lubricated. When your oil becomes old and starts to run out, your engine could possibly fail thus resulting in more car problems. Check your car’s owner’s manual to see how often they recommend you to change your oil.

Your car’s tires are important, don’t neglect them! Your tire’s longevity depends on how often you rotate and align your tires as well as check and adjust your tire pressure. The condition of your tires is also vital to your safety. Low tire pressure and worn tires can be dangerous while driving at high speeds.

Don’t forget to change your brake pads, they are critical to your vehicle’s health! Replacing your brake pads is typically done once a year, so that should be an easy New Year’s resolution to keep.

Finally, replacing your air filter is as easy as 1 2 3. Typically, you can change your air filter while getting your oil changed because they usually need to be changed around the same time. Air filters filter the air that your engine intakes, so over time as it becomes clogged, your engine will start to work harder than usual thus decreasing your fuel efficiency.

Keep Your Car Clean

For some of you keeping your cars clean comes easily, but for the rest of us, it’s a hassle. For those who always end up in the same place with a cluttered car, this new year will be a fresh start for a clean car.

First things first, remove all the trash and clutter from your car. Your car should be neat and tidy, not filled with old water bottles or things you don’t need. Once the trash is taken care of, this is a great opportunity to organize the important belongings in your car.

Next, it’s time to give your car the deep clean it has always needed. This means vacuuming the seats and floors, wiping down the dash, windows, and anywhere dusty, and taking it to a car wash.

Finally, it can be helpful to keep a small trash can in your car. Instead of throwing trash on the floor or the seats, throw them in a bag. Not only will this keep your car clean, but will support a good habit and reminder moving forward.

End Distracted Driving

Distracted driving poses too many threats and is very dangerous. Ask yourself the question, is it worth it? Distracted driving doesn’t just refer to texting or looking at your phone, it actually refers to anything that takes your attention away from the road. Using your radio, checking your GPS, eating and drinking, using an app, and changing the music all fall into distracted driving.

This is completely preventable, all people have to do is put down the phone and pay attention while driving. Make it a goal this new year to not be a part of the problem, but the solution that can save yours and many other lives.

Happy New Year

We hope you take our car’s new year’s resolutions and also some of your own into consideration this year! The resolutions we put together are beneficial to most, but we realize that it is also important to have specific goals fit just for you and your car. The whole point of these listed new year’s resolutions is to improve your car’s life and wellbeing but we also hope it improves yours as well.
